I Live in a Tech Island

I’ve recently noticed that the tech side of my life is very different from my friends’. And also from the average person. Like, to the point I can barely talk about it with others.

I don’t use Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp. I use ad-blockers and ad-free software. Ads on other people’s devices (except billboards and shopping mall screens) weird me a bit. When I talked to some acquaintances about starting a blog, the first thing that came to their minds was that I wanted to become an influencer.

It’s odd that I just use my computing machines with a purpose in mind and they do (mostly) what I want them to do. This blog to me is like paper where I can write and then publish.

This whole thing reminds me of “A Story About Jessica”, by SwiftOnSecurity. We people in tech can easily forget how other people experience technology.
